KITE Responds to Covid-19 with ONE Community Campaign

KITE’s ONE Community Campaign Exceeds Goals and Raises $30,500 to fight food insecurity in Enfield.

Special thanks to:
Eppendorf for donating $10,000 towards match funding.
Enfield Rotary Club for donating $3,100 towards match funding.
Enfield Administrative Association for a collective donation of $2,000.
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving for repurposing $3,900 to kickstart the campaign.

Enfield KITE’s “One Community” Campaign Raises $30,000 to Fight Family Food Insecurity
June 8, 2020 – For nearly 20 years, Enfield KITE (Key Initiatives to Early Education) has worked to ensure that Enfield’s children are healthy, safe and happy; live in thriving families; and are ready to learn the skills they need to flourish and succeed in school. As Enfield’s Early Childhood Collaborative, KITE works with community partners to marshal resources related to children and families. When COVID-19 spread to Connecticut, KITE staff changed the way they work to continue to support Enfield families. After reaching out to local community partners, it became clear that one of the greatest challenges facing the community was food insecurity.

ONE Community Campaign By Enfield KITE Thriving

The Enfield Food Shelf and Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen are beneficiaries of the educational group’s latest campaign of community building.
ENFIELD, CT — On May 1, Enfield Key Initiatives to Early Education (KITE) launched the ONE Community campaign to inspire kindness and raise money for the Enfield Food Shelf and the Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen. As a collaborative, KITE combines community resources related to children and families, and it was through these partnerships that KITE identified food insecurity as the greatest need in the community. With unemployment soaring and food donations dropping, it was the best way KITE could serve children and families in Enfield.
