Kindergarten Camp 2019

Kindergarten Camp
(a countdown to kindergarten)

On Monday, Aug 5th, 20 incoming 4-5yr olds packed up their backpacks and headed to KITE’s Kindergarten Camp.  Held at the Stowe Early Learning Center, this is the first step into primary school for these future grads of 2032. Kindergarten teacher, Stacey Kraucunas from Enfield Street School, prepares the campers for the daily routine of the classroom and introduces core curriculum Music, Art, Gym, Science, Math and Reading through activities and in-house field trips.  Many of the children have not had formal preschool experience. K-Camp eases the transition, helping to prepare the child to write their name, identify letters and numbers, transition between activities, take turns and classroom etiquette. Skills critical to their future success. Funded for the 3rd year by the United Way Community Investment, KITE’s partner, Enfield Family Resource Center manage and staff the 2-week program that’s offered at no cost to Enfield families.  Exciting in-house field trips scheduled throughout the next two weeks focus on science, gym, and music and include the Forrest Park Zoo, Mystic Aquarium, My Gym and Music with Music Therapist Rene Coro.
