Helping families BUILD supportive environments for young CHILDREN with Dr. Peg Oliveira
This free parent and caregiver workshop is designed to help families build supportive environments for young children. Secure relationships and supportive environments are fundamental to healthy child development. In this workshop learn about executive function skills, including self-regulation, and how they impact child behavior as well as the caregiver’s own ability to cope and deal with challenging behaviors.
Leave with some basic rituals and practices to try at home to help everyone in the family succeed.
About this Event
In this time of uncertainty and chaos, what can we do to help children cope? In this webinar, Peg Oliviera, Ph.D, Child Behavior Expert explains how secure relationships and supportive environments are fundamental to healthy child development and can positively impact child behavior as well as the caregiver’s own ability to cope. Research tells us that while stress can negatively impact child development, children are resilient.
Parents of Prek to grade 2 will leave with some basic practices to try at home to help everyone in the family feel more secure.
Target Audience PK – 2
While children may seem less vulnerable, physically, to this coronavirus, they may be more vulnerable, psychologically. If new, out of the ordinary and even challenging behaviors are suddenly present, consider them a message. Behaviors can be important signals from children expressing needs that they can’t put into words. What can we do to support our children during this crisis? Focusing on secure relationships and supportive environments can help. In this workshop learn how your children’s brains and behaviors may be impacted by trauma and leave with some basic practices to try at home to help everyone in the family cope.
