KITE Hosted a Virtual Question & Answer Night for Kindergarten Parents

On April 23, 2021, KITE hosted over 90 parents and educators for a virtual Transition to Kindergarten night.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Enfield Public School was unable to host an in-person event this year.  The Transition to Kindergarten Series enabled KITE to transform the experience virtually with a 3-part Series.

At the live Question and Answer session, Parents and caregivers were welcomed by Enfield’s Superintendent, Christopher Drezek,  EPS Nursing Supervisor Trish Vayda,  all three Primary Principals, and Vice Principals, and three kindergarten teachers from each school. Families also heard from a current parent about their experience this year, and how to get involved in their child’s school through their PTO’s. Families were invited to breakout rooms with the principal and vice-principal from their child’s school to ask specific questions.
Parents surveyed stated the format was very helpful and informative. Allowing parents to ask questions through chat and the administrators answered them as they came in. That way parents didn’t have to speak in front of the group.  This allowed the parents to ask more questions than if they were asked to speak, as not everyone is comfortable with that.

Earlier in the month, KITE released an All About Kindergarten video presentation that included speakers from the virtual question and answer night.  the video covers transition tips, information about covid practices, how to register, information from the head nurse, description of a kindergarten day, and information for parents that have questions.  The video can be viewed here https://youtu.be/2di8UtnKoAA
