KITE‘s 2019 Children’s Champion, Carol LaLiberte, Professor
Early Childhood Mental Health Mentor
Department Chair: Career Programs
Coordinator: Early Childhood Education
Human Services, Asnuntuck Community College.
KITE Chairperson, LeAnn Beaulieu presented the award with the following speech:
One of the things that make our collaborative not only effective, but a source of professional satisfaction for so many of us, ar the creative, sincere and thoughtful people who are so generously lending their time and energy to the work we share. This year, I have the enviable opportunity to present our Children’s Champion Award to an educator who has modeled true collaboration, elevated our collective thinking and influenced the career paths of early childhood educators across the region. Carol LaLiberte has been a steadfast and quiet leader of KITE’s work and because of her, we have been able to create a rich and exciting collaboration with Asnuntuck Community College.
She is part of KITE’s 3 to 3 Committee as well our newly formed 2Gen Steering Committee She has co-sponsored important trainings and presentations, created the early childhood substitute teacher program, and championed our work in Executive Function and Purposeful Play. In her we have found a partner who will always share resources and opportunities, who believes in the potential of all young children to learn and grow, and whose professional life is spent helping to shape the educational values and instructional knowledge and skills of college students who will be working directly with our youngest children.
We would not be the community we are without her. Please join me in celebrating Carol, our Children’s Champion for 2019.
